Governors Island NYC | Relax in 30 Acres of New Enhanced Park Space

As of May 2014, Governors Island in NYC has opened up 30 new acres sprawling park space for all New Yorkers to enjoy.

What's New

First the Hammock Grove - yep, that's right, one can stretch their legs in a hammock right in the middle of the park. For now, they are attached to sturdy wooden posts - but just wait until the trees grow, it will be magical.

Also new is the kid friendly play area featuring a wooden jungle gym, rope tower, sets of swings plus more.

Finally, a gorgeous picnic area ( Liggett Terrace ) with plenty of seatings for groups, public art displays and various food vendors.
