Exhibition: Charles James: Beyond Fashion

Held at The Metropolitan Museum of Arts, Charles James: Beyond Fashion will be the inaugural event held at the renovated Costume Institute's Anna Wintour Costume Center. This exhibition from May 8th through August 10, 2014 will feature costumes designed by Charles James, who began his "Art" in London, then later in Paris and in 1940 he moved to New York City. Even without formal training in design, he still produced some of the most iconic ball gowns in the 40's and 50's. The exhibition will feature 75 of his designs he produced over his life time from 1920 to 1978. The Four-Leaf Clover," "Butterfly," "Tree," "Swan," and "Diamond" are just 5 of the beautiful gowns that will be on display.
