Gaonnuri - Authentic Korean Food with a View

Meaning “center of the world” in Korean, Gaonnuri, perched on the 39th floor near Herald Square in Midtown. Aside from the traditional authentic Korean fare by executive chef Tae Goo Kang of Seoul, you come here for the view. Times Square to the North, Empire State Building to the East, New World Trade Tower to the south and of course the Hudson River.

Within minutes of sitting down, our table was buried in a small avalanche of old Korean favorites, like gummy but nourishing mandu, various savory jun pancakes (we liked the nokdoo jun, made with mung beans), and fatty squares of pork-belly bossam garlanded with fronds of properly ripe kimchee.
