The Tippler - A Speakeasy Bar Below the Chelsea Market

The atmosphere matches the ongoing trend of old-timey, so it's got persian rugs, large firebrick archways and cast-iron accents under dimly lit cozy lighting; space is huge and is outfitted with a nice long dark wood bar. Unlike other establishments in the area, The Tippler serves sans attitude, which is quite refreshing considering the reputation of the neighborhood. Layout, there are various different pockets of seating throughout so there is no issue of finding space to accommodate larger groups. Excellent for after-work during the week but expect the place to get crwded with long lines during weekend.

Joonbug:

incredibly detailed, this speakeasy drips of old New York class and glamour. With a classic décor of red brick archways, and reclaimed NYC relics hailing from the train rails of the Highline and wood from an old water tower, the Tippler has managed to do the impossible. Through careful selection of each minute detail, from the aged books lined along the walls to the bright street-lamp pendants hanging, like a beacon of stars on an empty night in Central Park, they have captured the essence and raw beauty of New York.Read More
